One of our activities this week, during small group time, is to have some exploration time making shadows. Preschoolers make a structure using some blocks and then use the flashlight to make shadows. They can then try to move the flashlight to make different sizes and shapes of shadows. This activity can easily be done at home as well. Simply use a flashlight to try to make shadows using things that you have at home. What happens to the shadow if the flashlight is really close to the object? What happens to the shadow if the flashlight is further away?
