The Art Center was opened this week. In the art center, preschoolers have access to chalk, markers, crayons, glue, paper, scissors and many other fun materials that they can use to create anything that they would want to make. It's always a popular center for our young students.

On Monday, we practiced using glue by gluing "sprinkles" onto foam cutouts of cupcakes. You can see our finished cupcakes in the hallway outside of our room.
On Fridays, we get to do some dancing along with our regular music time after our story time during our Dance Party Friday! Last Friday, our preschoolers were able to dance along with GoNoodle for the first time this school year. Check out the pictures of our preschoolers dancing along!
Last week, our preschoolers learned about our Puzzles and Table Toys centers. This week, we added Library and Blocks. In our Library center, students are able to read books, use magnets to spell out words, and just sit and be comfortable with our pillows, couch and rocking chair. In the Blocks center, our preschoolers are building with blocks, and using toy cars, trucks, animals, and people to develop interesting stories that go along with their playing.
Recess is an important part of our day. We are able to play outside using toys, bubbles, chalk, or just run around with our friends. It's also the time of day when we see our Kindergarten friends, many of whom were in preschool with us last year. On Friday, we joined Ms. Kaitlyn's class to watch two short videos about the solar eclipse. Then, we did a coloring page of the solar eclipse. Today, we watched the live feed from NASA while we ate our lunch. It was pretty cloudy around here but it was cool to be able to see some of the live footage from different locations that were reporting to NASA.
Throughout the course of this year, you will probably notice that I love photo booths! I love seeing those smiling faces as they change and grow throughout the year. Thankfully, Ms. Kaitlyn also loves photo booths so we set up a quick one on the first day of school! Some faces are a little more serious and some are very smiley! Welcome to school, preschoolers! I'm so glad that you are going to spend the year with us! During the first few weeks in preschool, we work on our routines a lot. We learn how to walk in a line. We learn how to get our breakfast and our lunch. We learn how to sit at the carpet. We also learn how to work and play in our centers. During the first day and a half of preschool, we learned about two of our centers: puzzles and table toys. The preschoolers are already learning how to cooperate and share when using the toys! This is going to be a great year! We had a fantastic morning. Throughout the year, we do many activities with Ms. Kaitlyn's class. First activity: a "First Day of Preschool" picture!
