Below, please take note of some important information for this week.
Monday, December 17th– Tonight! The Christmas Concert!
Tuesday, December 18th– Field Trip to Museum of Science and Industry
Wednesday, December 19th– School Mass
Thursday, December 20th– Blankets and Pillows Are Sent Home
Friday, December 21st - Christmas Party!
Each class at Epiphany studies one country's Christmas traditions. We learned about how people in Sweden celebrate the holidays. Today, we celebrated Santa Lucia Day! We colored pictures and made books about the different symbols that go along with St. Lucy. We also learned how to say "Merry Christmas" in Swedish. "God Jul!"
Since we are learning about Wind and Water, it was a great time to add water to the sensory table. Students are able to explore the water using funnels and various sizes and shapes of tubes.
In small group last week, one of our activities was an experiment using wind. Preschoolers found two objects in the classroom. One object was one that they thought would move in the wind from the fan. One object was one that they thought would not move. After making predictions, the fan was turned on and we were able to see firsthand if our predictions were correct. Today, we received a couple new pieces of furniture for our classroom. We received a new stove for our dramatic play center and a new storage piece for books. Well, those furniture pieces came in very large boxes. And we all know that there are few things better for open exploration than a box. The boxes and crayons became a new center today: box center. We will keep the boxes until they start to fall apart. This week, we began a new unit of study: wind and water. This morning, we explored how wind can move things. We painted with wind! We used straws and blew the paint around on our paper. |
