Last Wednesday, the preschoolers participated in the school Christmas concert. First, we presented a Nativity play. After the play, the preschoolers sang two songs. They had been practicing the play and the songs all month!
We had a great Christmas-y day yesterday! Our morning remained the same. We read books, had small group time, and students had center time. It was a little more fun, though, because students were able to be out of uniform. After lunch, our friends in 8th grade came down to help us make a snack. We covered ice cream cones with frosting and sprinkles to make delicious Christmas trees. It was messy and fun! While we were making our treat with our 8th grade friends, we had a special visitor. Santa came for a visit and he brought presents for the preschool students! It was a great day! Merry Christmas!!
We've been very busy practicing putting items in order. We've been comparing sizes of shapes and have used that information to make Christmas trees and snowmen. You can check out our work in the classroom and in the hallway.
Once again, each class at Epiphany is participating in Christmas Around the World activities. Each teacher chose a country for their class to learn about. Our country is Sweden. Today, we celebrated Santa Lucia day by making hats, making a paper chain using the colors of Sweden's flag, and the students did a coloring page of Santa Lucia and Star Boy. It was a lot of fun! The preschoolers loved seeing how long we could make our paper chain. You can now see it on display in the hallway.
This week, we continued learning about water. Today, we did an experiment to see if an ice cube would melt faster in cold water, warm water, on salt, or in our hands. The warm water won the ice melting race!
