Today, preschool celebrated Chinese New Year. We watched a short clip of a dragon dance, we looked at pictures of traditional outfits and dragons used in dancing. We then rotated among three different stations. In one station, students helped Ms. Rosie to make a tail for our dragon. In a second station, students could choose among several different coloring pages featuring outfits and items that one might see at a traditional celebration. And, in the third station, students attempted to pick out red M&M candies using chopsticks. That was really tricky! We discovered that it was so much easier for us to use spoons because only a couple students had ever used chopsticks before.
