In small group last week, students began sounding out color words. After sounding out the color words, students found items in the classroom that were that color. I was very impressed with how well they did! Practicing sounding out words is one of the skills involved with learning how to read. This is an easy skill to practice at home, too. When reading books together, point to the letters in words and sound them out with your child.
