On Friday, we were able to explore the items in a resource trunk from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. We used measuring tools to measure furs and pelts from a coyote, an opossum, a beaver, a raccoon, a skunk, a mink, and a squirrel.
Students took turns making observations of a coyote skull and drawing their observations.
Preschoolers also took turns picking an animal from one of our books about animals, drawing that animal using the book as a resource, then cutting out and placing that animal in an environment in which it would be camouflaged. Be on the lookout for the camouflaged animal pages. They are going home today.
We had a lot of fun and learned so much.
