Being able to recognize your own name is a very important preschool skill and is one of the first skills that we work on in the classroom. We have been working hard on recognizing our names this week and last week. Last week, we designed name pages for Our Name Book in our classroom library. Last Wednesday, we went fishing for names. This is a game that we play at the beginning of the year that we will also do periodically throughout the rest of the year as well. Last year, some of my preschoolers requested playing the name fishing game up until the last week of school! We also used scraps of paper to decorate our names. On Friday, we used sequins and different shapes to decorate our first initials. You can find see these finished pieces decorating our room. This week, the students made trains using the letters of their name and then used watercolor paints to paint their name. It's so much fun to see so many examples of their names throughout the classroom and in the hallway.
