During a reading of the book The Little Red Hen (Makes a Pizza) by Philemon Sturges the preschoolers wondered why the Little Red Hen would need to buy a flower for her pizza. Well, she actually used flour, not flower. To learn some more about what flour is, we had some open exploration time with some flour. We learned that flour is an ingredient, it feels soft and it feels cool to the touch. It also sticks to our fingers when we touch it.
