We have been learning about things that grow and this week spent a lot of time learning about animals that hatch from eggs. We spent a lot of time talking about birds and nests. On Friday, the students were each given a yarn "nest" to set up in the classroom. Students were asked to think like a mama bird to try to find the safest place for their nest in our classroom. At the end of the day, we took a look around the classroom to see what, if any, of the nests were able to last through the entire day. It was a fun experiment and the students learned why a bird may choose a tree or a birdhouse instead of the ground as those locations may be safer for their nest and eggs.
