After each of the morning Masses this Sunday (8am, 10am and Noon), you can stop by the school for a pinata in the courtyard and an open house for the preschool classrooms. Preschoolers can get a scoop of ice cream, too! Today, the preschoolers decorated some paper that will be used as table cloths on the tables for the ice cream and ice cream toppings. It's going to be a fun time. I hope to see you then!

Thursday morning, we released our butterflies. The butterflies seemed to be very excited to fly into the garden. And our preschoolers were very excited to watch the butterflies fly away. Goodbye, butterflies! This week, we practiced measuring with measuring tools. We learned how to measure something with a ruler that is longer than 12 inches. We practiced using rulers and measuring tape.
The moment that we have been waiting for has happened! Our butterflies have emerged! The preschoolers love watching them fly around in the net and have had the chance to see them eating. It's been a lot of fun! We will need to let the butterflies out of their net in a few days so that they can be free and outside where they want to be. But, until then, we get to enjoy watching them fly.
Wow! We had such a fun morning on our walking field trip. We started our morning at Lalo's Joyeria y Floreri. We learned about what people do in a flower shop and how to care for cut flowers. We were able to feel different flowers and materials used in the flower shop and watch an flower arrangement being made. After our time at the flower shop, we walked to Taqueria Los Gallos for a snack. Each preschooler was able to have a taco and some horchata. Yummy! It was a great morning! Thank you to all families that joined us for our science night after school yesterday. Everyone had a lot of fun and was able to experience some cool science activities. Our last Marvelous Monday will be May 22nd in the courtyard (weather permitting) so that we can do lots of fun outside activities. There will definitely be bubbles, chalk and a parachute! (In the event of rain, we will be in the gym.)
Last Tuesday, preschoolers practiced doing some measuring with a partner. They took turns measuring each other using items in the classroom. This is an activity that can easily be duplicated at home. Find some books or toys and do some measuring.
Each caterpillar is now in their chrysalis. The preschoolers are making observations during small group time and documenting what they see in their butterfly journals.
I picked up several boxes of fun materials from the Field Museum. You can check out these items that are on loan from the Field Museum at our next Marvelous Monday, Monday, May 15th. From 3:30-4:30, Epiphany teachers will be in the gym teaching children ages 2-5 about lots of cool science topics.
J day on our alphabet countdown was on Wednesday. J is for jump! Preschoolers had a jumping contest to see who could jump the furthest. Look at these great jumpers!
