On Friday, we used straws and tried to move cotton balls down the hall toward their teammates. It was a lot of fun! On Friday, our preschoolers learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. One of the things that we talked about was how we are all the same, no matter what our outsides look like. We did an experiment with two eggs. The eggs were different colors on the outside, but they looked the same on the inside! We also did some coloring pages of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Building on our previous explorations using straws in the classroom, this week, we added sailboats to the water table for some more exploration. Our students use a straw and try to move the sailboats across the water.
This week, the preschoolers made collages using many different materials. We used packing material, tissue paper, sequins, and paper doilies to make a snowy collage. You can see the finished collages on display in the hallway.
During small group this week, one of our activities was exploring the words sink and float. We made predictions about a group of objects and if they would sink or float. We then tested our predictions to see if our original hypothesis about the objects was correct. Yesterday, we celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany. The preschoolers made shoes before Christmas break and we came back to see that the Magi had stopped by to give us treats! We got to enjoy those treats after finishing our lunch. We also did a prayer service and a blessing of our classroom. What a great way to start 2018!
